Eat our own waste products in other words somehow process said sulfur dioxide and/or hydrogen to get more energy.

Evolve gland near her head and can spit acid, this will help us take the boroughs untilinto the rock so that we can take shelter from predators.

Develop enzymes of our own to neutralize or even overwhelm those that the Carnivorous Lytrope uses when hunting.

TURN 2

Environment Description

Charbiss is the second planet that orbits around the star Firiope.The surface of planet Charbiss is a barren wasteland, exposed to high amounts of radiation due to having a extremely thin atmosphere. Almost all of Charbiss' Oxygen and Hydrogen is used to form the water within its caverns.
Deep underneath the surface however, an enormous network of interconnecting caverns exist. These caverns vary from the size of a large city, to tiny little tunnels that only a mole could fit through. The caverns are almost entirely filled with water. The water has a gradient in temperature, being around 80C at the bottom and 30C at the top due to the high amount of geothermal vents that scatter the underwater caverns floor. Charbiss has currents that are caused by convection, the hot water rises to the top, then as it cools is forced back down again to start the cycle again.

SPECIES FOR TEAM “IAOOI”
Movement appendages: base 4 +2 (50% support) = 6.
Hearing: base 4 +2 (50% support) = 6.

Dolphin Lytrope (Axeriscapus Morphii)

Changes:
The Lytropes have developed a tail fin similar to a dolphins (hence the name). They use this to swim in an undulating way, using small muscles to move their tail up and down. They also have four fins around their 'head'. These provide more stability for when they are swimming.
The Lytropes have gained a small organ on the front end of their body. This small organ can pick up vibrations in the water, turning them into a sound that the Lytrope uses to hunt down their prey. No longer do the Lytropes have to rely on luck to survive.
Appearance:
Small multicellular carbon-based life forms that look similar in shape to tiny fish. Each organism is around 1.2cm.
Notable Features:
Reproduces using singe-celled spores that float through the caverns and find new vents to grow around.
Has two main life-stages, where the juveniles Thermosynthesize, and the adults hunt for other organisms.
Has a nervous system. On its face there is an organ that senses vibrations and converts them into sound.
Has four stabilisation fins around its face, and a dolphin-like tail fin which it moves up and down to swim with.
Diet:
Juveniles are producers, (Thermosynthesis). Uses heat to produce energy. The adults are Carnivores. Eats other organisms to produce energy.
Habitat:
The geothermal depths of the caverns.

LC


SPECIES FOR TEAM “METAMORPHIC MAGIC”
Gland that spits acid: base 5 +2 (50% support) = 7, capped to 6.
Muscle cells that control how they burrow: base 1 +2 (50% support) = 3.

Burrow Wirth (Withasiae Cavuceus)

Changes:
Wirths produce small burrows with the combined force of their mouth and three acid spitting glands located equally spaced distances around their mouth. This means that they produce small tunnels/holes around their heads. They have gained muscle cells along their length that can expand and contract. These muscles provide them with the ability to hide within their hole when they feel that they are in danger (even though they have no senses...).
Appearance:
Small multicellular carbon-based life forms that resemble worms and grow around the geothermal vents. Each worm is around 3cm long when fully stretched, and about 1.5cm when fully shrunken.
Notable Features:
Reproduces using singe-celled spores that float through the caverns and find new vents to grow around.
Resembles a worm.
Has an organ that crushes rocks to get at their minerals. Has three glands around their mouth that spit acid.
Have muscles that allow them to expand and contract so they can hide inside of their burrows.
Diet:
Producer (Thermosynthesis). Uses heat to produce energy.
Habitat:
The geothermal depths of the caverns.
Conservation Status:
LC


SPECIES FOR TEAM “THREE STAR”
Eat our own waste products: base 6 +2 (50% support) = 8, capped to 6.
Rapid growing roots: base 2 +2 (50% support) = 4.

Acid Lichen (Matridrias Acidia)

Changes:
This Lichen has improved its energy-generating abilities, being able to create Sulfuric acid out of the waste from its chemical reactions. They now use this acid to dissolve the rock, being able to get more Sulfur in a more efficient way. The acid eventually disperses back into the water.
Their roots now grow throughout cracks in the rock and sediment on the ground. These roots are now more extensive, and are also the areas that release the acid to get at the Sulfur. The size of the roots, combined with their better way of gathering Sulfur, have given the Lichen a huge size increase. Unfortunately, due to their large size and lack of defences, the Acid Lichen has become an attractive target for the Lytropes, and have thus been reduced to the status of Vulnerable.
Appearance:
Small multicellular carbon-based life forms that grow into 'flakes' around deposits of Sulfur. Each flake is around 2 - 3cm.
Notable Features:
Reproduces using singe-celled spores that float through the caverns and find new vents to grow around.
Has a primitive form of respiration.
Has roots that keep the Lichen stable and gathers Sulfur by secreting Sulfuric acid and then drinking in the dissolved Sulfur.
Diet:
Producer (Chemolithotrophy). Uses Sulfur and Water to produce energy. The water is split using a chemical reaction to produce oxygen and hydrogen. The oxygen and Sulfur combines to make Sulfur Dioxide, which also creates energy in the process. More water and hydrogen is added to create H2SO4 (Sulfuric acid), which is released through the roots to dissolve the surrounding Sulfur and thus get more ingredients to make energy. The acid harmlessly disperses, usually forming back into water and Sulfur.
Habitat:
The geothermal depths of the caverns.
Conservation Status:
VU


SPECIES FOR TEAM “FREMULON”
Evolve scoops along the outside of our spiral: base 1 +2 (50% support) = 3.
Develop enzymes that neutralise/overwhelm the lytropes ones: base 5 +2 (50% support) = 7, capped to 6.

Spoon Murq (Murcitias Creataus)

Changes:
The Murq have developed small growths on the outside of their corkscrew, which resemble small spoons in appearance. These spoons provide extra surface area, and make the Murq spin much more rapidly, generating a lot more energy. Unfortunately, the spoons have a tendency to get 'stuck' when they hit into the cavern walls/floor. This results in a very slow death, unless the Murq can somehow free itself.
Luckily, the Murqs have developed an enzyme that irritates the skin of the Lytropes, preventing them from being eaten to death. This enzyme does not do any pernament damage, but it interacts with the nervous system of the Lytropes, creating a highly unpleasant feeling. This means that the Murqs have no predators, but due to the fact that their spoons tend to get them stuck and eventually kill them, they are being reduced to Near Threatened.
Appearance:
Small multicellular carbon-based life forms that form into the shape of corkscrews. Each corkscrew has a series of growths on the outside that resemble spoons, which catch the water currents and make the organism spin much faster. Each corkscrew is around 6 - 8mm.
Notable Features:
Reproduces using singe-celled spores that find thermal currents and slowly grow into the shape of a corkscrew.
Diet:
Producer (Kinetosynthesis). Uses the kinetic energy of the currents to produce energy for itself.
Habitat:
The geothermal currents of the caverns.
Conservation Status:
NT


OVERVIEW
Lytropes have improved their swimming and have gained a new sense, allowing them to be able to hunt a lot better. They have stopped preying on the Murqs, due to their mobility and defences, but are starting to prey a lot more on the Lichens, due to their inability to move and lack of defences. Wirths now produce small burrows which they can pull themselves into in times of need. Unfortunately they have no way to tell if they are in danger, so this results in the seemingly random times in which the Wirths hide, sometimes hiding when there is nothing there, and other times staying out in the open while the Lytropes are feasting on them. The Lichen have gained a much better way of harvesting Sulfur, using the waste products formed from their energy making to create Sulfuric acid, and using this acid to dissolve the Sulfur which they then absorb through their roots. The Lichen pretty much create energy to make more energy and then more energy... Sadly due to their lack of defences they are being heavily preyed upon by the Lytropes. Murqs are seemingly free of the other creatures, inhabiting a much wider area (the geothermal currents) and having good defences from the only predators. Unfortunately they have the tendency to get stuck in the walls/floors of the caverns.
