Competition - Droetis

Post by Alpha » Wed Oct 08, 2014 7:39 pm

Hey, so I thought that since everyone else is doing these, I might have a crack at it too!
This completion will be similar to White parrot and Quasar's competition.
Rules are these:
Three teams are made, with a maximum of three people on each team. Total amount of players will be nine.

Current Teams: Pejvej (joshthehawk, Terracrafty), Beasts (AlexanderML, Tiberius, 20 characters!), Terrik (SillyOtter, kopout, The_Goat)

Simply put, each person can suggest one trait the current organism will evolve next turn; the suggestions are tallied, then a dice is rolled for each of them to see if you managed to mutate your way through generations:
1 - Result is exactly opposed to the one intended ! :o
2 - Evolution goes in a somewhat opposite way to the one intended.
3 - The trait is barely or badly evolved, producing no concrete result -but no penalty either.
4 - Notable evolution toward suggested goal. It's not perfect, but it's more or less what you wanted.
5 - Major evolution toward suggested goal; the desired result is neatly obtained.
6 - Evolution goes beyond the suggested goal, making the creature somewhat specialized in this new trait.
Moreover, the more people agree, the easier it is: you gain +1 to your dice roll for each 20% of voices going to the same suggestion (though 6 is still the maximum).
If you know that you will not be present within the next update, then PM me and your team can vote for you. If you don't PM/contact, then tough luck. :?

Each team will have a conservation status given to them each turn. This will reflect the success of each organism.
Extinct (EX) – No known individuals remaining.
Critically endangered (CR) – Extremely high risk of extinction in the near future.
Endangered (EN) – High risk of extinction.
Vulnerable (VU) – Bad risk of endangerment in the future.
Near threatened (NT) – Likely to become endangered in the near future.
Least concern (LC) – Lowest risk. Does not qualify for a higher risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category. :P

Additionally, if you're bold, there are a few ways to unlock more votes inside a team:
- adaptations dealing with gene transfers give one single additional mutation for the team per turn, but without the bonus system. Do you feel lucky ?
- two persons of different teams can agree to grant each other a voice in their own team, as part of an “exchange pact”. Do you trust each other with this power ?

One other thing: Every second turn I will roll for an event. 1 - 4 is something good, but a 5 or 6 is bad. I will then roll the strength with 1 being the weakest and 6 being very strong. I will choose the event, depending on whats happening in the environment or with the teams. So if you are going through a rough patch, maybe I will help you out. On the flip side, if you are doing a little too well, then... lets just say that I may punish you

Now let's go!
TURN 0
On planet Droetis is a large sea, called the Droetis Sea, produced millions of years ago by a comet crashing into the side of the planet. As time went on the crater filled with water, which absorbed many of the chemicals and minerals from the rocks to form a large sea. This sea is partially salty, but not as salty as the oceans on Earth. Some chemicals combined to form strings of proteins and amino acids. After many years of turmoil in this sea, one chance combination of proteins produced the first life.

Droti Bacteria (Primae Vitalis)
Single celled primitive bacteria that feed off the natural minerals found in the surrounding water and rocks. These minerals are converted into energy using simple chemical reactions. Their metabolism is enough to sustain them for now; there is no shortage of minerals in the sea. These microscopic bacteria tend to grow in small patches, and the cells reproduce by splitting into two.

Appearance:
Small patches of bacteria that grow on rocks.
Environment:
The rocky substrate of the Droetis sea, a large mineral rich sea that was produced by a comet smashing into the side of the planet millions of years ago.
Conservation Status:
LC

Start a team, call it whatever you want. Then you suggest things to evolve thatwill benefit your organism.

As of now we all start at that current organism listed or we make a new one?

This is the first time I've made a post, but I've been watching for weeks.

I'd like to start team called Beasts.

My first vote goes to evolving an acid to clear away rocks to the minerals that my creatures need.

Anyone else who want to join me I'd welcome it (and the vote).
