Team ABNTT
Strenghten the support structures (the stem) with minerals from the ground.
GP, what are you ideas on our secks vote?
Edit: Also, our species is just a single stem topped with 'leaves' right, like a palm tree?
Whoops, forgot about this for a bit. I didn't quite have a palm tree in mind for how our species would appear, though to be fair I didn't have much of an idea in the first place. On the so called "secks" vote* we can become more fibrous to strengthen our ability to survive the harsher weather on land and to dissuade other species from eating us. So, to organize things a bit.
Team ABNTT:
Vote: Develop a less rudimentery root system to better make use of the minerals in the soil.
Suggested sex vote: Become more fibrous for more survivability.
*warning, poorly constructed joke
But I already used my vote for structural support. We can instead make the tree branch out on a fractal fashion. Maybe like those extinct Ediacaran coral-thingies.
A forest of fractal rock trees. What do you say?

Sure thing, I'm kinda along for the ride right now.

Sex vote: The tree develops branches that sporut to form a diagonal staircase pattern, with every branch also forming branches with the same shape, and so on.

Evolve our flanged tentacles into flanged legs with joints. This way, we can run across the slime mats to quickly move to new locations, avoiding underwater foes.
Sex Vote: Begin Preying on land plants on the coastlines and beaches of the Munr Sea.

Now that I've thought about it, what exactly would be the survival benefits to such an adaptation? Are we just trying to create more surface area for the leaves?

Would it create wind tunnels? So that updrafts would form by the plants, for spore/seed release?

More surface area, mostly. Just in a more fancy way than growing lame traditional branches.
