Guaging Interest for Games/AARs
SO, I have several ideas running around for games that I want to try and start here, over the next month, and I'd like to explain 3 of them, and then guage interest within the forums.
So, without further ado, !
Pride and Patronage; An Alternate History Map Game!
So, this is actually two ideas at once, both, using the same basic principle to how they are played.
Based on the original Alternate History Map Game, by JoshTheHawk, this game will center on the players in what is essentially a god-mode game, attempting to guide either an alternate history scenario, or their own civilizations, through history, with a twist!
My two main scenario ideas are as follows:
1. Restarting my first Patronage-based Alt Hist Map Game, the Patronage History Map Game. I started it ages ago, and gave up on it after alot of the players left the forums, one even entirely deleting their account. I dont think I need to really explain the rules, theyre all plain to see in the thread.
2. Starting the game, with the patronage rules, in the 19th century, just before the death of Abraham Lincoln, and going from there, allowing the players to create an Alternate History scenario starting in the mid Victorian Era! This will create a much less fantastical world, and be a bit more familiar, but the world wont be entirely of the forumites' creation, where it will be in the previous idea.
Blood of Elyria; A Fantasy Byzantine/Roman Politics Game!
Loosely based on the Sagacious politics games of the old forums, and the premise of the Third Oddysey mod, in Europa Universalid, Blood of Elyria will be set in a fantasy alt-hist world, where the last Byzantine Emporer OTL led a mass exodus from the husk of Constantinople, and found himself and thousands of Roman settlers in what they dubbed as, "The Bay of Elyria," OTL the Chesapeake Bay, in 1445.
Here, they built their, "Elysian Empire," in a foreign, untamed land populated by hundreds of millions of indigenous tribes, some growing outwards to become allies, some opposing the growth if this new Empire, and some being brutally subjugated, enslaved, and assimilated.
It is now 1545, a full century later, and the recently deceased Elysian Empress, Alexandreas II Palaeologus, has re-established the Senatus as an effective quasi-legislative body, while still maintaining her power and, conversely, the power of her heir Constantine XII, as absolute rulers.
The players in this game will be playing as the heads of noble, merchant, and native dynasties, attempting to navigate through the cut throat world of quasi-Roman politics in the 16th century. More will be explained if I start the game!
The Raw Deal; A United States interactive AAR in Hearts of Iron 4
Having finally gotten the Man The Guns DLC on my Steam account for the Paradox WW2 Grand Strategy title, Hearts of Iron 4, I've decided that its good and we'll time to play as the United States, with its new alternate history paths open for either a more bellicose United States, or the establishment of an American Socialist Republic... Or of a fascist United States.
So, as always when I do these, I'm going to do an After Action Report. This AAR will include several points in which at decisions will have to be made, and I will not be making them alone! That's where y'all come in! Every *major* decision will be brough up in Congress(strawpoll baby) to be voted on by yall! It'll be fun!
Anyways, unless a large grouping of people are just actively opposed to me doing a certain thing, and vote along those lines, I will eventually end up doing all of these. This poll will just dictate what I put my focus into. So, get to voting!

This was relativly recent, and done with the current demographic if it helps you decide

I am particularly interested in "Pride and Patronage", the restart variant.

Re: Guaging Interest for Games/AARs
Ditto. While a game in the 1800's would be interesting and all it could become waaay too complicated. If we start from the beginning it might very well become complicated with time, but not as sudden and thus won't be as much of a shock to learn.BakedToast wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 11:38 pmI am particularly interested in "Pride and Patronage", the restart variant.

Yeah! I'd happily play the Blood of Elyria. I already love Burghers of Fyre, and this sound fun as well.

Re: Guaging Interest for Games/AARs
Lokey am super happy tha folks seem so excited for my game concepts
That being said, I've got my, "work partners," back on board with me, Prudentia will be doing the mainline mechanic workings for Blood of Elyria. JoshTheHawk will be advising and overall helping me make Pride and Patronage. Since they are, respectively, the ones who made the original Sagacious and AHM games, I'm hoping that will produce something thats not too far off the mark, while providing a more unique experience!
