How about butterfly scales, and perhaps cactus leaf?
Maybe avian scales as well?

Re: Alpha's Texture Creation Thread!
This is all very cool, but can it evolve?
It would be neat if these textures were not finished products, but an overlap of a base texture with a secondary pattern texture. And both layers having a color.
Then, you could have color genes for base and pattern textures (2 times 3 genes for a RGB color scheme for example), and give give a "camouflage" bonus to stripes or spots when in a certain biome (just lowering the odds of being targeted by a predator). And every creature could have a color preference for mating and aggression. This way, sexual selection on color, intimidation colors and mimicry can evolve.
Although you could still use one texture for the whole body (like the ones you made), and just define some regions as stripes or spots with another color, but the same texture?
Very well done anyway. Nice attention to detail
