Going to try building my first PC

Post by David18 » Tue Feb 23, 2021 6:48 am

Hello everyone,

I've been planning to build a PC for years and my laptop is getting old. I would like your opinions on my build. I'm aiming to have a PC that can comfortably play things like Space Engine, Species ALRE, and Total War Warhammer, stuff that my laptop can't manage. This on an $800 budget.

So far this is what I have planned:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X

GPU: XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS

Storage

SSD: ADATA SU635 240GB

HDD: BarraCuda 1TB 3.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 64MB Cache

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz

PSU: EVGA 600 BR, 80+ Bronze 600W

WiFi: EDUP WiFi 6 Card 3000 Mbps AX200 Dual Band 5.GHz/2.4GHz

Case: Thermaltake Versa H18

I have a retail copy of windows, I've been reading up and apparently I might need extra SATA cables too. Anything else would be great to know!

Thanks!

Asking a nearly dead game forum for advice on building a pc is an interesting strategy. Regardless, Species isn't terribly intensive. If you can run Warhammer you should have no problem with it.

Unfortunately, I'm not terribly well versed in building pcs. Most of the time I just ask some friends for advice so I can't really help you.
