Attempted(failed) attraction of arthropods with Cane Sugar

I placed some sugar outside and checked it for a few days and didn't find anything near it. I placed it in the grass but nothing goes near it. Why is this? I thought sugar attracted arthropods
I'm gonna put the last thing I copied here. Will change each time I visit for variety
