(0.13.2.0) Zombies, Burning Ice, and Freezing Lava.

So this build is turning out to be one of the "fun" ones: Zombies: Creatures sometimes refuse to die at 0 health and energy. They get stuck in a "dying" state and just sit there until you exit and reload the world, at which point they immediately die. The easiest way to reproduce this is just to kil...

Biomes don't respect terrain edits, and map editor bug.

Using the map editor, lower terrain on an ocean map so that it's below sea level. Load the map, and you'll see that the underwater terrain gets assigned a land biome. Another, possibly related bug: After loading an edited map, exit and return to the map editor. The edited map will be shown, but atte...

Directional damage modifier

When you get around to making a better damage model, try to account for the facing required to use a given part. A triceratops had to face a predator to use its horns, while a porcupine backs into them; a raptor has hind limbs that can latch onto prey while a wolf doesn't.

Re: Make creatures less buoyant

The three types of buoyancy are positive, negative and neutral. An object that floats in the water is known as being positively buoyant. An object that sinks to the bottom is negatively buoyant, while an object that hovers at the same level in the water is neutrally buoyant. Don't be a pedant. The ...

Make creatures less buoyant

Starting creatures are terrible swimmers that float like corks, even if they're aquatic. This causes them to float up and away from food on the bottom, especially while sleeping, which often causes them to die from exhaustion/starvation later. What really makes this irritating is that, in the real w...

1.3.6 Experimental Bugs

Note: I am on Windows 10, with an Nvidia RTX 2070 GPU. Terrain: Terrain that was above water before being lowered via the map editor is always considered above water for plant life. I think I fixed this by eroding it again? Terrain sometimes just doesn't respect its above/below water status in gener...

Re: Designing a better default aquatic species?

The next version will allow you to customize the starting creature, which should help. Maybe Quasar will finally fix the excessive buoyancy while he's at it; an urbilaterian should sink like a rock. As for the ideal temperature for the current aquatic starter, they need a tropical reef; set the surf...
