Re: More realistic balance without real-time physics

Isn't there already some real time physics? Theres the streamlining physics which lead to body shapes already familiar from nature (and a tendency to use the ceratopsid type heads. I can't prove it, but it seems like aquatic herbivores favor those type heads sometimes). It should be possible to do ...

Game stability buff: https://speciesdevblog.wordpress.com/2018/11/23/0-11-2-2-game-stability-buff/ I'm sorry about that caption, I couldn't help myself. No worries on the caption, I like the humor you put in there from time to time. :) That looks like a proper jungle. Going to be hell seeing any cr...

Re: 0.11.0 Development Thread

The adjustment to the oxygen absorption system helps with the water-land transition, except that it happened during an herbivore apocalypse. It''s possible that a not-fully-herbivorous critter bridged the gap and then the descendants went fully herbivorous. The tails are certainly evolving, but they...

Creatures world matrix went NaN exception.

I'm really not sure how this triggered. I was doing something (changing the land fertility I believe....) when it froze for a second like it was doing an autosave, then it blinked black and blinked back to the world as it appeared at the beginning (which was strange in itself) for a second and then ...

Re: Nursery robots

I had that problem when I was messing around with creating Anomalcaris, I put the creatures into the wild and then the nursery rovers went somewhere and never returned.

Re: 0.11.0 Development Thread

* Tail stats will now affect the creatures correctly. (Hopefully they'll actually evolve tails now!) I'll definetly check out if the tails still happen. * Head Type "Eat Rate" will influence oxygen absorption, making the intermediate stage easier to survive for higher order organisms. I still think...

Re: The Species ALRE Roadmap

-quote pyramid snip- We were talking about what comes after the big performance patch that Quasar is already working on. Further lowering the decay rate on corpses might be enough to get carnivores going, but how long do we ultimately want decay to take relative to a creature's lifespan? Now that P...

Re: The Species ALRE Roadmap

Do the colours have any meaning or are they just to differentiate "feature clusters"? This. Cyan is gameplay, green is world, yellow is creature features and red is creature interaction. I'm wondering if "Calls" could be linked to "Hearing"; more generally, IIRC, most interactions between creatures...

Re: Rovers

You know, I haven't really tested them out with underwater, though they do seem to work fine for the nursery when underwater. They just go in circles around a swimming underwater critter when attempting to get at it though. In the future, we'll need flying rovers when we get flying creatures, so, ma...
